If you receive a Direct Sound error, first ensure both your sound card drivers and Direct X are up to date.

Sound drivers for your system can be downloaded from your system manufacturers website. For links to various manufacturers please see the FAQ answer - Common system websites

Direct X can be updated via either:

Web installer - http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

or

Full distributable - http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

If after updating your drivers and Direct X you still receive the error message, try disabling in game sound.

To disable sound.

Within Football Manager 2010

- Go to the Preferences screen ('Options' -> 'Preferences').

- Go to the Display & Sound section.

- In the Sound Settings area, deselect Play Sounds and confirm your changes.
