"FC Torpedo Zhodino is an Belarusian football (soccer) club based in Zhodzina. They play in the Belarusian Premier League, the top division in Belarusian football. Their home stadium is Torpedo Stadium (Zhodino). The clubs Home colours are either red shirts and shorts, or black and white striped shirts, and black shirts. Away colours are all white/grey."Posted ImagePosted ImageAfter a couple of tries with stories in our beloved game of Football Manager 2010, none of the stories had made me want to continue managing that team and eventually getting bored of playing then posting on LW. After thinking and reading Palacios' article on how to not get bored of Football Manager I have managed to try a new game and actually stick to it and this time I've managed to stay in Europe and try with a inexperienced Belarusian football club, followed by the name of Torpedo, which is one of the reasons in which I decided to manage them, the name was cool and the Belarusian league is a fantastic experience. So I will be keeping you up to date, by bring you updates from every 3 months of play, which let's hope goes well, as first of all I bring you the Pre-Season update.
February the 27th was the day I actually arrived at the club located in Zhodzina where I knew from then on it wouldn't be the biggest challenge i've had in my previous FM careers, But I was predicted in the last place and with the ambitions to not get relegated within my first season in charge at FC Torpedo. I decided to lay low in the first couple of weeks by not going into my budget too much so there is more available hen I know what my team is like and how they can play. So I took my team for 13 friendly matches to make us match fit and ready for the new season, we also went on a tour on the small country of Latvia, which got us 4 friendly tours including 1 unfortunate result against the European group challengers FK Ventspills. Below are the results and goal-scorers from all of the friendlies in the build up to the new season.

So after only 3 defeats I knew my team was ready for the new season, and seemed as if they were approaching the new season quicker than I ever had before, and I also happened to feel more confident of my team than I had ever before in an FM2010 saved game. Throughout these 13 fixtures, I also managed to bring in a group of new lad's who who mainly came from different regions throughout the small country of Belarus. The first signing in was the experienced Igor Kvyatkoskiy who could play in the central defender role, which was in real need for filling after noticing weaknesses had struck that position. One of my key signings was the young Belarusian from BATE named Yuriy Ryzhko who is one of my best prospects in the team due to his great skill at the back, who cost Torpedo £6k for his duties. The other transfers were Andrey Lavrik from Aktobe for £50k, Pavel Sid'ko for free, and Alexey Pinchuk from Gomel for a great deal of £3k.

"That's what I can a season and a half" - Chris Ashmore
When I first arrived at the club located in the middle of Belarus, I thought that this was always going to be a fantastic idea, and from the final verdict I was 100% correct. I've turned around a team who were predicted to go back in to the Belarusian First League to a place in which my club owners have given me great praise, and the opportunity of another year at the club. This season, I wanted to get to know a lot of the players within my side so I didn't sell anyone, and instead loaned out two youth players to get them some experience as I know they have the quality to play the future of Torpedo. I also managed to spot out the weak spot's in my team, this involved areas in the Defence and the Midfield, which I filled immediately and changed at mid-season for necessary changes.

Competitions went very well this season, but we left short in the Belarusian Cup losing away to Minsk 3-0 after a 0-0 home draw, so in the end they won 3-0 on aggregate, and that wasn't my most pleasant moment as the club manager, but it doesn't matter, in fact, leaving the cup helped the team focus a lot more on the league and throughout the 26 games we played in the league, we happened to win 12, draw 11, and lose a small amount of 3 times. To take a full look at the Fixtures list please take a click here.

I couldn't have got through this season so well without my tactic I had used which was originally recommended by my very talented Assistant Manager, Vladimir Zhuravel, who helped me pick out the best players for the 4-3-1-2 tactic I was playing. Vladimir told me that my strongest attacker is the experienced Sergiy Kovalenko who had supposedly had a good season before I had joined and is excited and futuristic for the new season.

When I joined I had a midfield which was a group of very talented midfielders who from what I've seen had a very good previous season and it seemed to be their best year of their life, and I was hoping it would get better with the new young defender and midfielder Yuriy Ryzhko who came in for a cheap deal of £6k, and after 5 appearances for the soon to be young Belarusian side, he seemed to have the fans in raptures and banging goals in the back of the net.
Throughout the long overhaul of the 2008/2009 Belarusian High League Season I had used the same Goalkeeper the whole time, and will not regret my decision. Vladimir Bushma was the goalkeeper that all teams would have wanted throughout the season, Bushma kept a very constant rating of just below 7.00 throughout the season and not letting in as much as you would expect for a 14th place predicted side. The defenders was another key point to be coming runners-up of the High League of Belarus and mainly due to the fantastic right defender of mine, Maxim Vasilijev, who had a joint average of 7.24 over the great campaign of 2008/2009. Sergey Kontsevoy and the solid Vasiliy Tagil, who gave a solid season for Torpedo and left the club after the end of his loan.

In the end I got what I and all of the fantastic staff wanted out of the fantastics team of Torpedo, and that was a European place weather it was in the Champions League or the Europa League we were succeed in the end, I got what I wanted and that was a good heart-breaking season for the fantastic home fans at the Torpedo stadium and I hoped they can live with me being there at the Torpedo Stadium for a couple more years until a great job comes up in another part in Europe. Luckily next season you shall see me again at FC Torpedo as I recently signed a new contract to keep me there for another year, and I shall respect that decision and bring you new faces and the departure of well know faces. Now take a good luck at the screenshots below and enjoy!

Excellent update mate, it is easy to read and detailed and tells me what I need to know.

Almost the perfect update for an end of season post tbh.

You did exceptionally well with Torpedo so now hopefully you can make it into the Europa League and make some money while you are at it

Thanks a lot Melmmer, I hope I can get far next season, I've managed to change my team quite a bit now, brought a few stars in from the Dutch Land.
