After many people lately attempted to create their own databases I decided to step up and write a tutorial, how to make databases.

First thing you need to know is how to operate in the FM editor himself and not to get lost when I'll mention names later, in the next parts.

The following picture shows the parts of the editor window.

Posted Image

File menu

Load Editor Data - allows you to load your saved XML file to the editor.

Merge Editor Data - using that option you may merge changes from 2 XMLs to one XML.

Save Editor Data
- you can save your DB here.

Save Editor Data As... - allows to save your DB under a new name.

Load Database - the thing that you need to do before doing anything in the editor; loads the default game database with all players, clubs and other details.

Settings menu

Currency - allows you to select currency in which you will edit.

Compress Editor Data Files - selecting this option will make the game to compress the database you make; it's useful when there's a lot of data to store.

Menu - You can navigate between the currently edited item and the database (searching items etc.)

Recent Database Records - a list of the items you've recently seen or edited, allows you to switch through edited items.

Add Nation Rules - allows you to add league rules for a country.

Item menu
- lists possible sections you can go to.

Filter button - allows you to filter the search results.

Search box - you can search for an item by its name.

Editing buttons

Add - allows you to add an item.

Edit - allows to edit an item.

Duplicate - allows to duplicate an item.

Remove - allows to remove an item.

Next time I will write how to add a club and a player.
