2009 – My First Season

Club – Posted ImageVedrich Rechitsa
League – Belarusian First League – Predicted 5th Finished 7th
Other national competitions – Belarusian Cup 2nd Round

Transfers

In
8 players for £1.5k
3 coaches, 3 scouts & 1 assistant manager for £0

Out

3 players for £2k
1 scout & 1 assistant manager for £0

Summary

There was a media prediction of 5th and the board wanted a ‘respectable league position’. No pressure on at all then, but it was still going to be tough considering the lack of quality in the squad bar a few players, namely one who was on loan from a Belarusian Highest League side. Finances were stable, but I wasn’t given much money to make improvements.

We had an unspectacular pre-season scoring only 2 goals, but with only 4 going the other way. 4 out of those 7 games played were 0-0 draws. We started the First league determined to do well, considering the quality of players we were able to bring in with limited funds. Unbeaten in the first 4 games was how we started, but we were pinned back soon after that going on a winless run of 5 games that included 3 draws and 2 defeats. A much needed break was to come after that and we won in the 1st round of the Belarusian cup beating a fellow First League side. Between the national cup games we recorded 4 wins in 6 to propel us up the table challenging for the title. The 2nd round of the Belarusian cup came and we faced strugglers Neman Grodno of the Highest League. After a stern performance throughout normal and extra time, we conceded a last minute extra time penalty to send us out.

Back to the First League and we carried on our good form going unbeaten in 4, which put us at the top of the pile for the first time in my reign at the club, however the league was incredibly tight. A mini hiccup in the final 6 games proved our downfall, only winning 2 of them and losing 3. This saw us plummet down to 7th in the table where we finished.

OO unlucky, you seemed to be in a nice tight league where a few results can really determine your season.

Will you be mostly signing players who are available on Free transfers on are you looking to buy players and and loan them from the big clubs in Belarus.

Any good regens come through the system?

Yeah, definitely. Some very interesting leagues that I haven't managed in before, should be fun :ronson:

Yeah, the league was so tight a couple of bad results and you'd fall down 3 or 4 places. Free transfers are obviously going to be helpful to me, but because of LLM rules I cannot filter for them. Loans from the bigger clubs might be needed, haven't had the chance to look about yet. Really need to loan the player I've got from FC Minsk for another season, or tempt them into a sale.

Thanks for the comments, both of you

2009 – Hitting Rock Bottom

Club – Posted ImageVedrich Rechitsa
League – Belarusian First League – Predicted 7th Left in 14th
Other national competitions – Belarusian Cup 2nd Round (Still active)

Transfers

In
6 players for £4.8k
1 coach, 2 scouts & 1 assistant manager for £0

Out

1 player for £5k
3 scouts, 3 coaches & 1 assistant manager for £0

Summary

Disgraceful, I brought in players that would (in my scouts and my eyes) bring very successful times to the club, but that wasn't meant to be. Maybe it was because I couldn't get in on loan again the star centre back of last season or was it my change in shape from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2.

We started with no win in 3 games but then thrashed promoted club Myasokombinat 4-1, giving me hope that we could still challenge in this league. 3 losses in 4 games with the other game being another victory over a promoted side bemused me. How could we be so poor? I changed the shape back to the old 4-5-1 we played to good effect last season and endured another couple of defeats, the next game we played recently relegated Dnepr Mogilev and held them to a spirited 2-2 draw, shifting my attention away from resignation. A 5-1 thrashing and a slender loss meant that we just couldn't hold our own in the league, really didn't know how to rectify the situation.

The Belarusian Cup was a helpful break inbetween these tough times and we ran out clear winners against a lower league side only to lose on our return to league football. I decided that if we didn't get atleast 6 points from the last 3 games before the midway point I would resign, what followed was a draw and 2 defeats leaving me embarrassed with 9 points from a possible 45. I had to do the right thing and resign.

Didn't go too well then :/ Maybe the new players just didn't settle?

Ah well, on to the next chapter and hopefully a higher team or a team in a better league will come in

I think you're right there, coupled with the fact a few of my better players were getting on a bit and the rest of the team were playing like complete bell ends, they'd pussy out of tackles when I set them to 'hard' tackling and generally piss about. I had a few game's that just sent me over the edge, the 5-1 drubbing and 2 or 3 last minute goals that lost us all 3 points.

Thanks for the comment, Valkeakosken Haka are bottom of the Finnish Premier League with 7 points at the halfway stage and have no manager. Might apply for the job there, although it is a step up in class and I'm not sure my antics at Vedrich Rechitsa have helped me climb the managerial ladder that much.

I'll let you know how I get on with regards to the jobs.
